Like his is not difficult to imagine, Uyuni surface provides excellent targets for testing and calibration of satellite, or more specifically their remote sensing instruments. Clear skies, dry air, minimal elevation deviation, large, smooth surface and high surface reflectivity during the rainy season made the Uyuni five times better geared for satellite calibration from the surface of the sea. Visitors can see the vastness of the place and the high altitude and for a special treat during the winter season. It turns out the whole desert into a shallow pond with a smooth surface.
